Pelvic Organ Prolapse (POP) is the “invisible” problem
If a little bit of urine escapes every time you laugh, feel heaviness or a bulge, you may have POP. POP occurs when the normal support of the vagina is lost. It is a very common yet quite painful and bothersome condition affecting one in two women.

At early stages, Pelvic organ prolapse is treated with elastic or rigid devices called pessaries that are inserted into the vagina to support the uterus. Pessaries are relatively low-cost and can be easily removed or adjusted, however, they require regular cleaning and follow-up care, may cause discomfort or irritation, and do not address the underlying tissue causing the prolapse. For severe POP, surgery may be recommended. Surgery aims to restore the normal position of pelvic organs and strengthen supporting tissues. However, traditional surgeries often involve significant recovery time, potential complications such as infection or scarring, and may not be suitable for all patients due to age or health conditions.
